DUMAGUETE CITY – Operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Negros Oriental seized some PHP400,000 worth of suspected shabu during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Bantayan here on Friday.
The suspect, Edward Somoza Duran, of Purok 4, remains at large, however, as he was not around when the law enforcement team raided his home.
Authorities were armed with a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio Jr. against him, a report from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) said.
Duran is tagged as a “high-value individual” at the regional level, the report said.
During the search, the lawmen recovered a sling bag containing two large and a medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, and a pair of scissors.
The suspected shabu weighed more or less 60 grams with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of PHP408,000.
The suspect will be charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the police said. (IAMIGO/PNA/SPH.com)
