MANILA – Just a few days after the Department of Justice indicted him, an arrest warrant has already been issued against staunch Duterte critic and opposition figure former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and 11 others.
Trillanes, et al., are being accused of Conspiracy to Commit Sedition in relation to the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” video blogs, news reports say.
It was only last Monday, 10 February 2020 that the Department of Justice charged former senator and 10 others before a Quezon City court.
Trillanes, et al., reportedly conspired to commit sedition by accusing a number of personalities.
Foremost of which was President Duterte’s family whom Trillanes and company accused the First Family on their involvement in illegal drug activities through a video released online.
Chaired by Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Olivia Torrevillas, the panel of prosecutors however cleared Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo and 24 others, including Senators Risa Hontiveros, Leila de Lima and former Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino of involvement in the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” video series.
In an interview, Trillanes said “he is ready to face the harassment cases filed by “Duterte’s minions” against him but he is accordingly out of the country for some engagements.
He was quoted as saying that he “intends to post bail upon returning to the Philippines next week.” (IAMIGO/sovereignph.com)
