MANILA — A drug trafficking group once headed by self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa is at it again in the Queen City.
So said the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) which is now verifying reports about possible movements of the remnant of Kerwin’s group around the province.
Police Colonel Roderick Mariano, director of CPPO, told reporters Monday morning (17 February 2020) they received the information from Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, director of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) on the alleged revival of Espinosa’s group.
“We will collaborate with PDEA and other law enforcement agencies para malaman natin kung talagang bumalik sila,” said Mariano.
At the moment, however, Mariano said they have yet to confirm group’s illegal activities.
Ferro mentioned that the group may have a hand on the killing of Police Master Sergeant Maximino Macua Jr. during a failed buy-bust operation that led to an encounter with the subjects in Barangay Mambaling, last February 11.
Some members of Espinosa’s group have already been arrested in recent buy-bust operations and the CCPO said some of them confessed as members of the notorious group. (IA/sovereignph.com)
