MANILA – For still unknown reasons, the Bureau of Corrections legal service chief was gunned down in Muntinlupa City on Wednesday, 19 February 2020.

The legal chief, Fredric Anthony Santos, was aboard his blue Toyota Hilux waiting to fetch his daughter when two gunmen appeared and shot him right in front of her school along Katihan Street in Barangay Poblacion at 1:50 p.m., a report from the Muntinlupa City police said.

Police said Santos sustained gunshot wounds in the head and was declared dead on the spot.

The gunmen-suspects then fled towards an unknown direction, police added.

Meanwhile, way back in September 2019, Senator Panfilo Lacson stated during a Senate hearing that he received reports that the victim used to hold drug sessions with Chinese drug lords at the New Bilibid Prison’s Building 14 where high-profile inmates are detained.

Said accusation was vehemently denied by Santos back then.

In the heat of the GCTA (Good Conduct Time Allowance) Senate investigations, however, Santos, along with other Bucor officials, was put under preventive suspension by the DOJ. (iam/sovereignph.com)
