KUALA LUMPUR – The Agence France Press News Wire reported Saturday former interior minister Muhyiddin Yassin was named Malaysia’s new prime minister signaling the end of Mahathir Mohamad’s rule and return to power of a scandal-plagued party.

Muhyiddin was scheduled to be sworn into office Sunday (01 March 2020) the palace said, ending a week of turmoil after the collapse of the reformist government and Mahathir’s resignation as premier. (iamigo/sovereignph.com/AFP)
