MANILA — The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) has issued a stern warning against certain local government and police officials who are reportedly protecting the alleged mastermind in the brutal killing of Kidapawan-based radioman Eduardo Dizon.

In a letter to Police Regional Office (PRO) Region 12 director Brig. Gen. Alfred Corpus, PTFoMS Executive Director Jose Joel Sy Egco said his office is awash with reports that Dante Encarnacion Tabusares a.k.a. Bong Encarnacion had been sighted freely roaming around with armed escorts.

Corpus has also been asked to immediately implement the warrant of arrest (WOA) issued by Presiding Judge Henelinda J. Molina-Diaz of Regional Trial Court Branch 61 in Kidapawan City on January 15, 2020.

“We sent an urgent and no-nonsense letter to PRO 12 because the Task Force has been receiving reports of recent sightings of Tabusares allegedly with armed escorts and that he is allegedly enjoying the protection of some local officials,” Egco said. “This is against the law. We believe that such reports need to be verified and if proven, should warrant legitimate action.”

Egco believes “the issuance of the WOA issued against Tabusares “means he is no longer entitled to protection, if at all, by any state agency or its agents.”

“He should be better off in the custody of the court,” he added.

For his part, PTFoMS Co-Chair and Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar said the PTFoMS is a proactive organization, which takes its job very seriously.

“This straightforward letter is an initiative that proves that the Task Force is constantly monitoring the developments in its case inventory, including those not reported by traditional media,” Andanar added.

Tabusares was accused of the crime of murder against Brigada News FM–Kidapawan station manager Eduardo Sanchez Dizon who was shot dead while driving home along the national highway in Kidapawan City on July 19, 2019.

The Task Force is on top of the situation and is closely coordinating with the officials of PRO 12 regarding this pressing issue. (PR)
