MANILA – Due to travel restrictions to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country, the Philippine Airlines (PAL) has expanded its flight cancelations between the Manila and South Korea.

In an advisory, PAL said only the following flights will be retained to serve travelers not covered by the travel restrictions:

* March 12-21 (Wednesday/Sunday only) PR 466/467 Manila-Seoul-Manila

* March 12-23 (Tuesday/Saturday only) PR 418/419 Manila-Busan-Manila

Affected passengers of canceled flights to/from South Korea may rebook or reroute their ticket on or before March 28, and choose a new travel date scheduled on or before June 30.

On Thursday night, President Rodrigo Duterte said entry travel restrictions will be imposed upon those traveling from countries with localized Covid-19 transmissions, except for Filipinos including their foreign spouses and children, if any, holders of Permanent Resident Visa, and holders of 9(e) Diplomat Visas issued by the government.

Last March 3, the Philippine government has announced the easing of a temporary travel ban to South Korea, allowing Filipinos to travel to the East Asian country, except the whole of North Gyeongsang Province, including Daegu City and Cheongdo County, where the virus outbreak is concentrated.
