MANILA – An employee of the House of Representatives earlier diagnosed positive of coronavirus has accordingly died on the wee hours Sunday (15 March 2020) morning.
This was confirmed by PBA Party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles who said that the employee, who worked at the House’s Printing Service division, passed away at 1:45 a.m.
Passing away of the said employee whose name was withheld on Department of Health’s protocol, was also confirmed by no other than House Secretary General Jose Luis Montales.
Montales claimed the employee had no travel history to any country with confirmed COVID-19 cases.
He also had no history of exposure to a confirmed case.
The employee was the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the lower chamber prompting House’s Printing Service to require all other employees to undergo self-quarantine.
The DOH is now conducting contact tracing on people and places the victim met and visited.
Since last Friday, 13 March 2020, the House shut down facilities and is undertaking sanitation and disinfection of all 11 buildings of the Batasan Complex.
As of 5 pm, Saturday, March 14, the DOH said there are now 98 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the country.
