MANILA – There is need for President Rodrigo Duterte to take another coronavirus (COVID-19) test.
This, after Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III allegedly tested negative for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
It may be recalled that a Palace official said last week that President Duterte would only need to take another COVID-19 test if and when the DOH chief tests positive.
The negative COVID-19 result on Duque was confirmed by DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire during a live interview Sunday, March 22, over at DZBB AM radio.
Vergerei said Duque’s test came out negative as of Saturday night.
The DOH chief went on self-quarantine and subjected himself to a coronavirus test after being exposed to a senior health official who had the coronavirus.
Before going into self-quarantine, Duque has been exposed “at least three times” to the same senior health official who was confirmed COVID-19-positive.
Vergeire said that Duque is at present in perfect health condition.
“I have no fever, so I’m pretty okay. It’s just that of course I’m watching over my hypertension and asthma,” Duque was quoted as saying by another online publication.
But despite testing negative, Duque remains a person under monitoring (PUM) and his self-quarantine shall continue he said. He began his self-isolation on Wednesday, March 18. (ia/sovereignph.com)
