MANILA — Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III confirmed to media that he has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in a statement Wednesday.
“I was informed late last night March 24, 2020 that I have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The swab was taken last Friday, March 20, 2020,” he said referring to a Department of Health test.
The former Senate President thus became the second senator to test positive for COVID-19 after Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri confirmed his case last week.
Before Pimentel’s announcement, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country stood at 552 as reported by the DOH. (iamigo/sovereignph.com)
