MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday announced that AFP chief of staff General Felimon Santos Jr. has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
This was confirmed by no less than Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana who shared the information with defense beat reporters before noon Friday, March 27.
The AFP COS said Tuesday (March 24) that he was already on home quarantine after coming into contact with another senior AFP officer who later tested positive for the new virus.
Meanwhile, the DND chief claimed that he had been in close proximity twice with Santos (March 21 and 22).
As a result, Lorenzana immediately put himself under self-quarantine. (ia/sovereignph.com)
