MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has ordered all personnel to wear face masks in Camp Aguinaldo as part of efforts to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
In a memorandum dated March 31, AFP chief-of-staff Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. required all military and civilian personnel to wear face masks at all times whether inside or outside offices.
This is to prevent and control the spread of the deadly disease inside the AFP General Headquarters, AFP spokesperson Marine Brig. Gen. Edgard Arevalo said in a statement Wednesday.
The measure seeks to somehow prevent an individual, especially both symptomatic and asymptomatic, from spreading saliva droplets into the air or on any surface.
Based on the memorandum, Arevalo said personnel accessing vehicle and pedestrian entrances at Gate 1 who are not wearing face masks will be denied access starting Thursday.
This initiative will be replicated as needed in other military camps and facilities nationwide.
Arevalo said this is part of the AFP’s measures in protecting its members not only in the front lines but also those who are still performing administrative duties inside camps. (PNA)
