MANILA — The number of coronavirus-related deaths on the Philippines on Thursday (02 April 2020) breached the hundred mark following the Department of Health’s announcement of 11 more fatalities.
PH’s death toll is now pegged at 107 even as the DOH reported new confirmed cases of 322, pushing the overall national tally at 2,633.
DOH reported only one recovery for the second straight day, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 51.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization said infections worldwide could break the million mark “in the next few days.”
“As we enter the fourth month since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, I am deeply concerned about the rapid escalation and global spread of infection,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in online.
Worldwide, the Wikipedia reported that there are now 935,817 coronavirus cases with 193,700 recoveries and 47,208 deaths.
The United States remains on top with positive cases among countries having 216,154 registered cases with 8,878 recoveries and 5,115 fatalities.
Italy lies next with 110,574 cases including 13,155 deaths and 16, 847 recoveries; Spain with 104,118 (9,387 deaths and 22,647 recoveries); China with 81,554 confirmed cases (3,312 deaths and 76,238 recoveries) and Germany with 77,981 cases (931 deaths and 11,722 recoveries). (ia/sovereignph.com)
