Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – The COVID-19 Task Force in Prosperidad town led by the local government unit here and members of the police and armed forces target to complete their relief operations today and in the next few days.
Local chief executive Frederick Plaza Mellana along with the Sanggguniang Bayan Council, ABC Council, LGU Staffs, National line agencies, the 8th Special Forces “Dragoons” Company, 3rd Special Forces “Arrowhead” Battalion, PNP and other uniformed personnel have already distributed initial relief to about 7,000 households in Prosperidad.
Today, they are targeting to complete the relief operations to the remaining 13,000 households more.
Ten out of 32 barangays have already been covered by the relief operations and these are La Purisima, Magsaysay, Los Arcos, San Roque, San Rafael, San Vicente, San Lorenzo, San Jose, La Perian, and Sta. Irene.
The relief operations, which include an initial 5 kilos of rice for every household, will continue until April 15, 2020.
Mayor Mellana commended the members of Prosperidad’s COVID-19 Task Force along with the military and police forces whom he said secured and ensured the safe delivery and distribution of the goods to the people most in need.
“I commend all participating members of the COVID-19 Task force, from my SB members who work as a team, barangay chairmen and their officers, various LGU staffs, national line agencies and the uniformed personnel. On the part of the military and the police, we are assured of our safety in delivering the goods especially in the hinterlands,” Mayor Mellana said.
The mayor also urged his constituents to strictly follow the protocols on preventing the COVID-19 virus through quarantine measures being applied in the municipality and the region.
He also called on them to cooperate and avoid spreading confusing and fake news and misleading information that would ruin the plan and measures of the government.
Mellana also assured them that the LGU will give its best to provide support within the capacity of the officials of Prosperidad.
The town remains free COVID-19 cases but it has already installed a COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center located at the Municipal Hall and is active 24/7.
It will also serve as nerve center for monitoring the implementation of its Localized Community Quarantine and is always ready to act accordingly on any incident pertaining to the crisis. (iamigo/sovereignph.com)
