MANILA – The Department of Health reported 106 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the Philippines and five additional deaths.
The new COVID-19 cases raised the number of infected individuals in the country to 3,870 while the number of fatalities reached 182.
On the positive side of things, 12 more COVID-19 patients were reported to have recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 96.
According to the National Task Force against COVID-19, a little over 20,092 individuals have already been tested as of Monday.
Last Tuesday, President Duterte announced the extension of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon by two more weeks or until April 30 to better fight the spread of the killer virus.
Worldwide, the coronavirus pandemic has now claimed more than 82,000 lives out of more than 1.4 million infected people throughout the world.
US still tops in cases
The United States of America still has the most number of cases at nearly 400,000 followed by Spain at 141,942 and Italy at 135,586.
Italy remains to have the most number of recorded deaths with 17,127 fatalities, followed by Spain at 14,045 and France at 10,328.
However, more than 301,000 persons were able to beat COVID-19.
Believe to be the epicenter of virus, China has the highest number of recoveries at 77,525 followed by Spain at 43,208 and Germany at 36,081.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared COVID-19 a pandemic when infected individuals reached hundreds of thousands globally.
