MANILA – An official of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene popularly known as Quiapo Church on Wednesday said there will be no procession of the image on Good Friday due to the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon.
“Hindi na muna (tuloy ang procession) [The procession won’t push through] because of the extension of the ECQ,” Quiapo Church Parochial Vicar Fr. Douglas Badong said in a message.
He, however, said other Church activities for the Holy Week will push through.
“At 7 a.m., Panalangin sa umaga (Morning Prayer); 12 noon, Siete Palabras (Seven Last Words); 3 p.m., Veneration of the Cross,” he added.
The Good Friday activities can be watched live on Facebook and Twitter accounts of Quiapo Church.
The faithful can also watch other activities for the rest of the week which include the Last Supper Mass on Maundy Thursday at 5 p.m.; Morning Prayer at 8 a.m. and Easter Vigil at 7 p.m. on Black Saturday.
On Easter Sunday, Quiapo Church will have five Masses — 5 a.m., 6 a.m. noon, 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
All Masses are available via live streaming on the Church’s social media pages.
Churches have earlier suspended public Masses and traditional Lenten activities in compliance with quarantine rules amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in the country. (PNA)
