DAVAO CITY – Mayor Sara Z. Duterte lauded the efforts of medical professionals as the reason behind the good number of patients recovering from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
As of Thursday, a total of 48 successful recoveries in the region were confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH) 11 (Davao region) out of the 87 individuals who have tested positive for the disease.
During her regular radio interview on Friday, Duterte noted that physicians and other medical staff have been “doing their best” to help Covid-19 patients recover.
“Our front-liners are in a high spirit. We should thank all of them,” she said. “The passion, interest, and skills of our health care workers to treat the patients are very vital for their recovery.”
Meanwhile, Duterte has not ruled out imposing an “extreme enhanced community quarantine” (EECQ), saying this would depend on the public’s compliance with the current quarantine measures.
She underscored the importance of public cooperation in containing the virus and preventing it from further spreading.
“If this happens, there might not be a need for an EECQ anymore. But right now, we are planning two things: one is EECQ or we go back to the ordinary community quarantine,” Duterte said. (PNA)
