BALANGA CITY, Bataan – An old woman from Orion town in Bataan was the latest patient to have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), raising the province’s total number of confirmed cases to 27 as of Saturday.
Governor Albert Garcia identified the newest case as an 86-year-old woman who is being treated in a hospital here.
For three days, the number was pegged at 23 but on Good Friday, it rose to 26 after three cases were registered.
Quoting a report from the Provincial Health Office, Garcia said the patients were all women from this city.
One is confined in a hospital in Subic Bay Freeport and the other two are in a hospital in this city.
The number of deaths remained at three, while 10 patients have recovered.
A total of 10 are still completing their 14-day post-discharge quarantine.
Meanwhile, 2,818 persons under monitoring (PUMs) have been recorded while patients under investigation (PUIs) who have shown mild symptoms number 846, and those showing moderate to severe symptoms stand at 206.
Garcia sought the residents’ cooperation and compliance with the policies under the enhanced community quarantine, which are to stay home and to practice social distancing.
“With our cooperation, concern, and understanding and with the help and guidance of God, we can surpass this challenge,” he added. (PNA)
