MANILA – Citing “personal reasons and development philosophy with fellow Cabinet members,” Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia has tendered his resignation to President Duterte amid the coronavirus crisis.

“This is due partly to personal reasons and partly to differences in development philosophy with a few of my fellow Cabinet members,” the socioeconomic planning chief said in a statement on Friday, April 17.

According to Pernia, he arrived at his decision to quit government service after reflecting during Holy Week.

He said he also made consultations with family and close colleagues.

“I would like to thank the President for appointing me to the position. It has been an honor and privilege to have served the country under his administration for the past nearly 4 years,” Pernia stressed. (ia/SovereignPH.com)
