MANILA – Medical doctors who want to help contain the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak are very much welcome to join the Army Medical Corps.
This after Philippine Army (PA) commander, Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay, on Thursday ordered the Army Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, Office of the Army Chief Surgeon (OACS), and Office of the Army Chief Nurse to fast-track the recruitment of physicians and other health practitioners who will be deployed to Covid-19 patient care facilities.
“We intend to augment the Philippine Army medical workforce in order to strengthen the organization’s capabilities in responding to the government’s call to fight the Covid-19,” he said in a statement.
Applicants must be a graduate of Doctor of Medicine, has a valid and current Professional Regulation Commission License, a natural-born Filipino citizen, 25 to 38 years old, single or married and of good moral character.
Upon taking their oath, the newly-recruited doctors will have an initial rank of probationary second lieutenant with a base pay of PHP38,366 plus allowances and other benefits.
Once commissioned, they will be promoted to the rank of captain with a base pay of PHP 56,582 and additional benefits.

“The Army has already recruited health professionals such as nurses deployed at various Covid-19 treatment facilities.
