MANILA – “Fake, false, untrue.”

Such were the words tersely stated by Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles on Saturday as he debunked claims he allegedly advised businessmen that enforcement of the country’s enhanced community quarantine would be extended until middle of next month, May.

“Nako (Goodness). Napakalayo sa katotohanan. This is totally false. Totally untrue. Totally fake,” the CabSec who also serves spokesman of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases said on his virtual briefing Saturday morning.

“So ‘wag na po nating patulan ‘ya. So fake, false, untrue. Totally. Totally,” Nograles reiterated.

Extension or otherwise of the already extended ECQ Nograles said would be discussed in a meeting by the IATF on Monday, 20 April 2020.

Deadline of the ECQ extension is set 30th of April as such post-April 30 scenarios are also expected to be discussed he said.

“Siyempre lahat ng mga miyembro ng IATF ay may kanya-kanyang rekomendasyon, may kanya-kanyang suhestiyon. At kung maiintindihan po natin, siyempre ang lahat ng miyembro ng IATF, may sari-sariling mandato at jurisdiction. At may sariling set of stakeholders po lahat ng iyan. So ibabalanse po namin ang lahat,” Nograles said.

The Cabinet secretary from Davao also explained that “whatever decision the IATF arrives upon in consensus, it is still President Rodrigo Duterte who will have the final call on quarantine extension and other post-April 30 decisions.” (ia/
