MANILA — The Department of Health has on Saturday (18 April 2020) reported new confirmed 209 coronavirus cases and the official national tally surged to 6,087 from the previous count of 5,878 on Friday.
Meanwhile, 29 more patients rebounded and recovered from the killer disease and the number of recoveries ballooned to 516.
The week just past saw the most number of survivors of the disease in the country, allowing the number of recoveries to overtake to that of fatalities.
The country’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 397 after the DOH reported 10 new fatalities.
Luzon’s enhanced community quarantine was extended from its original date of April 14 to 30 and government officials are mulling at extending it anew, dependent on the numbers or flattening of the curve by the end of the month.
Under the ECQ, only one member of each family is given a quarantine pass for him or her to go out and buy necessities or medicine for the family.
Worldwide, there are now over 2.07 million cases of COVID-19 including 139,378 deaths the World Health Organization said on its latest situation report.
