MANILA (First Update) – Recoveries on Sunday (19 April 2020) hit another high number of 56 even as the Department of Health recorded 112 new cases of the coronavirus.

Thus, the country’s total of COVID-19 infected individuals rose to 6,259 while the count of those who survived the coronavirus disease improved to 572.

Meanwhile, the DOH said the COVID-19 death toll increased to 409 with the addition of 12 new fatalities.

Worldwide, the pandemic has already infected a total of 2,329,659 individuals including 595,433 recoveries and 160,721 deaths.

Of those infected, the United States remains on top of the heap with 740,746 cases followed by Spain, 194,416; Italy, 175,927; Germany, 143,724; United Kingdom, 111,821; China, 82,735; Turkey, 82,735; Iran, 80,868; Belgium, 37,183; and Brazil, 36,925.

Russia, meanwhile, surged in cases at 36,793 of COVID-19 impacted individuals. (ia/
