PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – The Provincial Task Force on 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) bared late Friday that a fourth confirmed case has been recorded in the province while two suspected Covid-19 patients have died.
Dr. Robert Capatoy, Provincial Task Force Covid-19 spokesperson, said the fourth confirmed patient is a 58-year-old male who did not have any recent travel history.
Capatoy said the patient is from the town of Aurora, who was admitted on March 31 in a private hospital but was discharged against the advice of the doctor.
However, Capatoy said the patient was admitted on the next day, April 1, to the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center (ZDSMC) here.
The first swab test on April 1 on the patient yielded negative but showed turned positive on the succeeding test.
Capatoy described the patient, who is in the isolation area of ZDSMC, as clinically stable.
He said they are still waiting for the results of the tests on the two suspected patients, who died and whose families were advised to bury them immediately.
Capatoy said that one of the two was an 86-year-old female with no travel history. The patient succumbed to respiratory failure and cardiovascular disease on April 16 at a local private hospital.
The other suspected Covid-19 patient, he said, was a 52-year-old male from nearby Aurora town with no travel history.
He said the patient died on April 17 due to respiratory failure also at a local private hospital. (PNA)
