CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Camiguin province’s lone 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patient has already tested negative, Governor Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said Friday night.
In a live video conference, Romualdo said the Department of Health-Region 10 (DOH-10) reported to him that the second test sample from the patient no longer showed traces of Covid-19.
This meant that as of Friday, he said the province is back to a zero Covid-19 case status.
However, Romualdo urged his constituents to remain vigilant and not be complacent as quarantine measures are still in place to contain the virus.
“I always ask your support by staying in your respective homes,” he said.
He also said that a probable Covid-19 patient who resides in Mambajao town also tested negative. The patient is currently admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) here.
Meanwhile, DOH-10 director Adriano Subaan said the region has managed to “flatten the curve” but all of “systems and strategies” will remain in place unless all the areas in the country–especially Luzon–are able to manage the virus to insignificant levels.
“This is a national outbreak, so we have to obey the system of the national government,” Subaan said.
In Camiguin, the persons monitored for Covid-10 stood at 43 as of April 18.
“This does not mean that we become complacent. Now there is a greater need to be vigilant, strict in maintaining the cleanliness of Camiguin,” Romualdo said. (PNA)
