MANILA – The Department of Health reported on Saturday of 30 new survivors of the coronavirus disease, bringing the total of recoveries to 792.

New cases of COVID-19 meantime, reached 102 that all but increased the official national tally on infections to 7,294 from the previous tally of 7,192 on Friday.

The local COVID-19 death toll is now at 494 after the Health department confirmed 17 new fatalities.

Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte has on Friday approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases to extend the enhanced community quarantine to another 15 days from May 1-15 in Metro Manila as well as Central Luzon, Calabarzon, provinces of Pangasinan, Benguet, Albay, and the islands of Mindoro and Catanduanes.

Cases nears 3M worldwide

Cases worldwide is nearing the three million mark as it now stands at 2,790,986          including 781,382 recoveries and 195,920 deaths.

Of that confirmed COVID-19 cases, the United States has the biggest part with 927,150 patients; 101,315 recovered and 52,400 were reported to have died or succumbed to the disease.

Far second to US is Spain with 219,764 cases (92,355R/22,524D); followed by Italy, with 192,994 (60,498R/25,969D); Germany, 154,999 (99,928R/5,760D); the United Kingdom with 143,464 (no reported recoveries/19,506D); France with 122,577 (43,493R/22,245D); Turkey has 104,912 (21,737R/2,600D); Iran with 88,194 (66,596R/5,574D); China with 84,311 (77,346R/4,642); and Russia with 68,622 (5,568R/615D).
