MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday has so far reported 112 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases among its personnel, as three more police officers tested positive of the virus.
In a statement, the PNP Health Service (PNPHS) said recent test results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) showed the three new cases are a 48-year-old male officer from Parañaque City, a 29-year-old male officer from San Juan City; and a 32-year-old male officer assigned in the National Capital Region.
As of Tuesday, 17 police officers have already recovered while three died of the disease and 92 active cases are undergoing supportive healthcare.
The active cases are now undergoing strict observation and medical attention by PNP doctors, 68 of whom are in quarantine facilities, five are now admitted in hospitals, and 19 personnel are undergoing home quarantine with continuous support and observation by PNP Health Service.
The PNPHS is also keeping a close watch on 310 personnel categorized as probable cases while a total of 384 personnel were classified as suspect cases.
At present, a total of 1,063 PNP personnel have completed home quarantine under strict monitoring and medical observation. (IA/PNA)
