MANILA – The trough of Tropical Depression Ambo will continue to cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Mindanao on Tuesday.
Ambo was last eyed 285 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 340 kms east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
It has a maximum sustained winds of 55 kms per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 70 kph, heading north northwest at 15 kph.
Ariel Rojas, a weather specialist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said Ambo is expected to develop into a tropical storm by Wednesday, and into a severe tropical storm by Thursday.
Ambo may make landfall over Sorsogon on Thursday afternoon, he added.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds will prevail over the Visayas, Southern Luzon, and Caraga.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (ia/PNA)
