MANILA – Maj. Gen. Dionardo Carlos on Wednesday took over as the new chief of the Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR) of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP chief, Gen. Archie Gamboa, presided the change of command ceremony in Camp Crame.
Carlos replaced Maj. Gen. Benigno Durana, who retired from the service. Durana also served as PNP spokesperson and public information office chief.
The DPCR is the primary unit of the PNP national headquarters in charge of community affairs and media relations programs.
Both Durana and Carlos are members of the PMA Maringal Class of 1988.
Carlos was the former head of the Directorate for Information and Communication Technology Management (DICTM).
Replacing Carlos as DICTM head is Maj. Gen. Joselito Vera Cruz, former director of integrated police operations (DIPO) – Western Mindanao. He is a member of PMA Hinirang Class of 1987.
Taking over as DIPO – Western Mindanao is Brig. Gen. Alfred Corpus, former regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-12 (Soccsksargen).
Brig. Gen. Michael Jon Dubria, former chief of the Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA), will replace Corpus as Soccsksargen’s top cop.
Meanwhile, Col. Sydney Villaflor was designated as acting SOSIA chief.
Gamboa said the latest round of reorganization manifests the continuing reform in the command structure of the 205,000-strong police force. (ia/PNA)
