MANILA – The Department of the Health COVID-19 reported a huge number of corona virus cases Wednesday allowing the country to breach the 15K mark.
The DOH monitored 380 new cases of the virulent pathogen and the number of confirmed corona virus patients in PH ballooned to 15,049.
The 380 additional cases were the biggest single-day increase since April 6. A day before, Tuesday, 26 May 2020, the DOH reported a big count of 350 cases.
The recoveries department continue to rebound as there were 94 more patients who prevailed in their fight against the killer disease which continue to plague the world.
And with the 94 more survivors, the PH’s total number of recoveries increased to 3,506.
The DOH reported 18 new deaths and the number of fatalities increased to 904.
Active cases stood at 10,639 Wednesday the DOH said. It also reported that some 282,923 individuals have already been tested in the country as of May 25.
The COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a new strain of corona virus.
This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in late December 2019.
It was on the 30th of January 2020 that the DOH reported the first case of COVID-19 in the country, no thanks to a 38-year-old female Chinese national.
On 7 March, the first local transmission of COVID-19 was confirmed and President Duterte placed Metro Manila under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) nine (9) days later.
Soon after the rest of the country followed and were placed under varying degrees of community quarantine as the country battles the disease.
Considered as the epicenter of the virus, Metro Manila is right now under modified ECQ but authorities are carefully studying on the possibility downgrading it to general ECQ.
Final decision of which is on the hands of the President Duterte the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases said Wednesday.
Worldwide cases: 5.5M
Virulent as the virus, worldwide cases have now reached 5,591,067 and counting including 2,287,152 recoveries and 350,458 fatalities.
