MANILA – Checkpoints will still be strictly enforced between provinces under the more relaxed general community quarantine of the pandemic.
So said Interior Secretary Eduardo Año on Friday after President Rodrigo Duterte declared that Metro Manila and other areas in the country would be placed under GCQ.
Said Año: “In between borders ng probinsiya medyo mahigpit yan [Checkpoints between borders of the provinces will be strict].”
Año added that a travel pass is the key as it will be required for people going to other provinces for non-work purposes.
Travel for other reasons should get a travel authority from the Philippine National Police (PNP) the DILG chief said.
However, Año made it clear that people crossing from one city to another for their work only need to present their company IDs. (ia/SovereignPH.com)
