MANILA – Various forfeited and abandoned shipments of firearms and accessories were turned over to the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported on Saturday.
In a statement, BOC-Port of Clark said the items are covered by Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) and Abandonment Proceedings (AP).
The firearms and accessories include 17 riflescopes, four front, and rear sights, telescopic sights, airsoft knights SR-16 Carbine.
The bureau also handed over 10 Kevlar helmets, breastplates, eight cans of pellets and gun magazine, bulletproof vest, and assorted gun parts.
Present during the turn-over ceremony were district collector Ruby Alameda, BOC-Clark deputy collectors, PNP-FEO chief Rommil Mitra, other PNP officers, and representatives from the Commission on Audit (COA).
The BOC said the items were seized and forfeited for lack of Authority to Import from PNP-Firearms and Explosives Office, a violation of Section 117 of Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and R.A. No. 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”
The turn-over was made pursuant to Section 1147 (a) of CMTA. (PNA)
