CEBU CITY – The anti-drug agency in Central Visayas has confiscated a total of PHP1 million worth of illegal drugs in separate operations in two barangays here placed under hard lockdown.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) conducted the anti-illegal drug operations on Tuesday in Lahug and Sambag 1, two of the 20 villages here identified by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) with high cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Leia Alcantara, PDEA-7 information officer, said agents from the PDEA-7 and operatives from the Police Regional Office (PRO-7) arrested one Jereme Sanchez Duran alias “Joan” in Sitio Sun-oc, Barangay Lahug here.
Duran, 38, a fish vendor and resident of Ermita village in this city, surrendered to the authorities 11 packs of suspected shabu weighing 50 grams with a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of PHP340,000.
PDEA-7 conducted a follow-up anti-drug operation in Sitio Kalubihan in Barangay Sambag 1 based on the information revealed by Duran during the course of investigation.
Authorities then arrested Jorda Fiel Miral, 31, who bears the aliases “Dangas” and “Odang”; and Romualdo Bijasa Jr., 36, both residents of Barangay Ermita.
Government agents seized from them two large packs of suspected shabu weighing 100 grams and valued at PHP680,000.
The three drug personalities could allegedly dispose 300 grams of shabu per week.
Alcantara said the anti-drug agency placed Duran in surveillance and case build up after they received information from a confidential informant about the suspect’s illicit activities. (PNA)
