CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Mayor Rene Maglanque of Candaba, this province disclosed on Sunday that he has been tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Noong Lunes ng gabi nang maramdaman ko ang mga sintomas ng Covid-19 tulad ng lagnat, pag-ubo, at pagtatae ay agad akong nag self-quarantine at kumunsulta sa Municipal Health Office. Dahil dito ako ay sumailalim sa (reverse transcription) polymerase chain reaction (RT- PCR) test noong Huwebes ng umaga, at kahapon ng alas singko ng hapon ay lumabas ang resulta na ako ay positibo (When I felt the symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever, cough and diarrhea last Monday night, I immediately self-quarantined and consulted the Municipal Health Office. Because of this, I underwent a (reverse transcription) polymerase chain reaction (RT- PCR) test last Thursday and the result was released that I was positive of Covid-19 at around 5 p.m. Saturday,” Maglanque said in a social media post.

The mayor, who is now asymptomatic, appealed to those who came in close contact with him to undergo self-quarantine.

“Kasalukuyan na pong ginagawa ang contact tracing at hinihikayat ko ang lahat ng aking mga nakasalamuha na mag-self quarantine at obserbahang mabuti ang kanilang mga sarili sa mga sintomas ng Covid-19. Makipag-ugnayan kayo sa ating Municipal Health Office para mapayuhan ng inyong mga dapat gawin (Contact tracing is currently ongoing and I am encouraging all those whom I have mingled with to undergo self-quarantine and carefully observe themselves for the symptoms of Covid-19. Please coordinate with the Municipal Health Office to give you an advice on what to do),” Maglanque added.

The mayor said he is strictly following the quarantine protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Health.

Maglanque assured his constituents of continued service to Candabeños.

“Patuloy ang serbisyo sa ating munisipyo. Mag-ingat tayong lahat at ipagdasal natin ang kalusugan ng bawat Candabeño. (Service continues in our municipality. Let us all be careful and pray for the health of every Candabeño),” he added.

As of July 18, Pampanga has a total of 212 confirmed Covid-19 cases, but only 22 are active, to date. Eighteen have died of the viral disease, while the rest have recovered. (PNA)
