MANILA — The country just closed out the month of July 2020 with 4,063 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and PH surpassed the 90k mark.

The day’s record of 4,063 was a new all-time high the Department of Health (DOH) said that all but pushed the country’s overall count to P93,354.

Less the recoveries and number of deaths, however, PH’s caseload on active cases is only pegged at 26,153.  

Following a huge number of around 40k recoveries on Thursday, the number somewhat slowed down to only 165 survivors Friday but enough to shove the number of survivors up to 65,178.

The death toll breached the 2k mark at 2,023 after the DOH reported 40 patients succumbed to the disease.

Out of the 4,063 new cases Friday, the National Capital Region once again led all comers with 2,267 followed by Cebu’s 654.

Laguna had 200 while Rizal reported 123 and Cavite logged in 117.

According to reports, the coronavirus disease outbreak first emerged in Wuhan City, Hubei province of China in late December last year.

The virus causes mild or moderate symptoms such as fever and cough for most people.

However, in older adults and people with underlying health issues or comorbidity, they may experience more serious illnesses including pneumonia and death. (Covid Update)
