LIANGA, Surigao del Sur – The IP Community of Sitio Simowao (Km 9) Diatagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur said that it is more dangerous to live in a place when Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) and their front groups are around because they are the cause of terror during the Lianga Municipal Government on Wheels affair at the said sitio.
Philippine Army chief media officer 1Lt Krisjuper Andreo Punsalan INF said the Simowao community, made up mostly of former members of Malahutayong Pakigbisog Alang sa Sumusunod (MAPASU), another CNT-linked organization, has revealed that MAPASU and Communist NPA terrorists conspire to gain control of the sitios to create a resistance force against government programs and citing false, non-existing issues such as coal mining.
“We can testify to prove that MAPASU and terrorist NPAs coexists,” sitio leaders (who requested anonymity), said speaking in Tagalog.
Lianga IP leaders Jumar Bucales and Constancio Duhac, who were also former rebels, said that they have been there and done what CNTs did that is why they can challenge Save Our Schools and other self-proclaimed land defenders whom they said are NPA front groups.
“Save Our Schools does not fit the name of their organizations because if they are genuine enough, they will help us in building DepEd IP schools and not defend the CNT-influenced and non-DepEd accredited schools who destroyed the future of our tribe,” Duhac said.
From 2019 on Communist NPA Terrorists have killed numerous IP leaders.
Hence, the Mindanao Indigenous Peoples Council for Elders and Leaders (MIPCEL) slammed the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) over the killing of Hawudon Bernardino Astudillo, 73, and Zaldy Ibanez, 52, both belonging to Manobo tribe and residents of Sitio Inadan, Barangay Magroyong, San Miguel, Surigao Del Sur last year.
The most recent NPA terrorists-related atrocities were the murders of Paquito Maca Badiang, 58, a resident of Barangay Mabuhay, Tandag City and Jomar Ignacio Engayas, 46, a resident of Libas-sud village July of this year.
“Without any investigation or clarification, the Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) immediately killed the victim who is a civilian who belongs to the Manobo tribe,” Duhac said.
He added that the act of the NPA rebels “manifest their complete disregard and respect for human life” and that IP leaders have proven that CNT-front organizations such as Save Our School (SOS), MAPASU, Karapatan CARAGA, Sinag and others cannot even condemn NPA terrorists whenever an IP is killed by the terrorists, instead, they put the blame on the military.
NPA terrorist IP schools
Encounters and statements of former TRIFPSS teacher Eduard Goltia revealed that numerous Tribal Filipino Program in Surigao Del Sur (TRIFPSS) and ALCADEV students recruited by the schools to become NPA terrorists died during clash with government troops.
Some of them were Lanset Arlalejo, Ronel Galdiano, Angie de Castro, Rabbie Rivas, Darwin Tejero, Rolly Enriquez, and Randel Tejero.
All are residents of barangay Diatagon and either a product of TRIFPSS and ALCADEV.
Communist NPA rebels, to include Pablito Campos, brother of Bayan Muna Representative Eufemia Cullamat and arrested MAPASU leaders Gloria Tomalon Campos and wanted personality Myrna Campos Belandres, according to their relatives and former rebels were recruited from ALCADEV and TRIFPSS.
IP leaders Rico Maca, Constancio Duhac, Jumar Bucales and sitio leaders in Simowao said that Save Our Schools and Sinag are obviously defending the CNTs because right now but the NPA terrorist Guerilla Front 19 of Northeastern Regional Committee operating in Andap Valley Complex is dwindling and sliding into a climate of collapse.
“Obviously they are trying to divert the attention of the media to discredit the military and the government,” Duhac, said
“We hope that media, the congress, senate, local and international human rights groups will not believe them because they just want to stop the operations against the terrorists,” Duhac added.
The Lianga Local Government unit has already issued a statement of support for the continuous combat operations against the CNTs knowing the fact that the IP community is not the target of the operations but the armed group.
The IP leaders call on international and local media, national line agencies and genuine land rights defenders to condemn the Communist NPA terrorists, its obvious supporters such as Save Our Schools (SOS) to not believe their propaganda and have an actual visit or dialogue with the legitimate IP leaders to clarify the issues and prevent false and malicious information.
“We just hope that NPA terrorists and their front group such as Save Our School (SOS) would leave us alone and let us live peacefully. We don’t need them here, in fact we declared them unwelcome in our ancestral lands here in Surigao del Sur,” the IP leaders said.
