MANILA – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Wednesday wearing of face shields apart from face masks in workplaces will be required beginning August 15, as it tapped employers to provide face shields for their workers.
Covid-19 transmission is not only limited to the nose. It could also affect the eyes.
The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) has also proposed that employers should purchase face shields for their employees.
Employees who will not comply with the protocol will not be allowed to go to their workplaces.
It was also recommended for employers to be held liable for non-observance of the health measure in the workplace and might cause the closure of the establishment.
Support to OFWs
Meanwhile, the labor department said support to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) hard-hit by the health crisis is ongoing.
The labor department is also providing livelihood programs under the DOLE Starter Kit or NegosyosaKariton (Nego-Kart). (PNA)
The DOLE explained the livelihood program is not only limited to OFWs. Other employees may also qualify for the Negosyo-Kart and they will be given an initial investment amounting to PHP15,000 to start a street food business. (PNA)
