COTABATO CITY–Basilan lone district Rep. Mujiv Hataman and his wife, Isabel City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Thank you for your prayers. I and my wife are cured,” Hataman said in a Facebook post Wednesday.

On Aug. 1, the solon took to social media revealing that he and his wife got positive results from the virus that they thought at first was just a case of ordinary cough several days before.

Hataman said a subsequent manifestation of sore throat prompted him to tell his wife to accompany him to the doctor for a swab test.

They both turned out positive from Covid-19. After two weeks of being treated at a Covid-19 isolation facility, the solon happily announced that both he and his wife are cleared from the virus.

“We both feel okay and have no symptoms whatsoever of the virus,” Hataman said.

He said they have already been released by doctors from quarantine. He added that their children and other people in their house also tested negative from the virus. He also encouraged those who are infected to come forward and make themselves known.

“This is for you to be treated right and prevent you from contaminating others,” he said.

Hataman also denounced the unfair treatment or discrimination some people are giving to those who are unfortunate to contract the disease, saying that “it is no joke to have the virus”.

“There should be no room for discrimination in our society. In this time of crisis, we should show compassion, and all the more that we need to be one in fighting this virus,” he said. (PNA)
