COTABATO CITY – Five new infections were added to confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as of Friday evening, bringing the total number of active cases in the region to 206.
One recovery was recorded on the same day.
Of the 701 total number of confirmed cases since March, 478 have already beaten the disease for a 68 percent recovery rate, according to BARMM Ministry of Health.
Included in the 701 cumulative cases were BARMM Health Minister Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan and his wife.
The new cases were from Lanao del Sur and Marawi City, the health ministry reported, adding the patients are isolated in the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City.
To date, the region has 19 deaths, including one on Friday.
Lanao del Sur remained on top of the list with cumulative confirmed cases of 356; followed by Basilan with 108; Maguindanao (95); Sulu (18); Tawi-Tawi (4); and 120 locally stranded individuals from Manila who arrived in Cagayan de Oro City and were facilitated by BARMM for their return to the Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi area last month.
Meanwhile, decontamination is ongoing in all BARMM regional offices located inside the 10-hectare BARMM center here after three workers of the region’s executive department tested positive for Covid-19.
In Maguindanao, Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu ordered the disinfection of the Provincial Capitol building in Buluan town and ordered all employees to work from home from September 7 to 11.
Mangudadatu assured, however, that no Maguindanao provincial government official or employee has tested positive for the virus. (PNA)
