State Weather forecasters said Tropical Storm “Siony” is expected to intensify further into a severe tropical storm between today and Thursday, as it continued to move slowly or “remain stationary” for the next 12 hours.
PAGASA in its latest bulletin, maintained Tropical Cyclone Winds Signal No. 1 at the northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan and the eastern portion of Babuyan Islands.
It is expected to move westward or west-northwestward towards the Luzon Strait and Extreme Northern Luzon.
It will hover near Batanes and the Babuyan islands by tomorrow evening or Firday morning.
Also under Signal number 1 are the northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga); the eastern portion of Babuyan Islands (Balintang Island, Babuyan Island, Didicas Island, and Camiguin Island including their adjoining islets).
PAGASA said they are not ruling out the hoisting of signal number 3.
“Siony” comes at the heels of Super Typhoon “Rolly” that battered Bicol and many areas in Luzon.
Disaster officials pegged the number of deaths at 20, with 74 people injured. SOVEREIGNPH
