The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Thursday said it has disbursed a total of P717.333 million as cash subsidy for operators of public utility vehicles (PUVs).
On Monday, the LTFRB launched the subsidy program that aims to help select PUV operators in different parts of the country amid the coronavirus disease 2019. It has a P1.6-billion funding based on the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 2.
In a Facebook post, the LTFRB said PUV operators received P6,500 each through the Pantawid Pasada Program cash cards of the Land Bank of the Philippines and other banks with PESONet and INSTAPay connection.
“Patuloy naman ang pamamahagi ng LTFRB ng subsidiya sa mga PUV operators sa ilalim ng Direct Cash Subsidy Program (The LTFRB continues to distribute subsidies to PUV operators under the Direct Cash Subsidy Program),” the LTFRB said.
At least 178,000 PUVs are included in the program broken down as follows: 120,000 jeepneys, 21,998 buses, 24,374 UV Express units, 10,188 Filcabs, 1,259 mini buses, and 426 point-to-point buses. JONATHAN ARACELI FOR SOVEREIGNPH
