Former Department of Health secretary and now Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin and three others have been ordered arrested by a Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) in connection with the Dengvaxia-related deaths of two school children.
RTC Branch 107 Judge Jose Bautista Jr., ruled in his two separate omnibus orders dated November 18 that “the court went over the record of the case and finds that probable cause exists to issue a warrant of arrest against all accused.”
“Jurisdiction having acquired over the persons of these accused, this case is set for arraignment, pre-trial conference and preliminary conference on Nov. 27, 2020 at 2 p.m.,” the judge said.
Facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide are Garin and three other representatives/employees of Sanofi Pasteur Inc.: Stanislas Camart, Jean Louis Grunwald and Jean Francois Vacherand.
Sanofi is the manufacturer of Dengvaxia vaccine. All the accused have yet to file their bail bonds and were given three days by the court to post bail from receipt of the arrest warrants.
The other co-accused in the Dengvaxia case already posted bail before the Muntinlupa City Metropolitan Trial Court and other courts, and were considered filed before the Quezon City RTC.
The Public Attorney’s Office had filed numerous cases before the Department of Justice over the deaths of children who were inoculated with the Dengvaxia vaccine during a massive anti-dengue drive during the administration of President Benigno Aquino 3rd. JONATHAN ARACELI FOR SOVEREIGNPH
