San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon Ang on Sunday personally issued an apology to the victims of the Skyway project where a girder fell, killing one person and injuring four others on Saturday.

Ang assured the victims’ families that SMC “would make sure all their needs would be taken care of, and more.”

The accident happened at the portion of the ongoing Skyway Extension Project at the East Service Road in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City on Saturday morning.“Even with a contractor handling construction, ultimately, we are responsible for the welfare of those who were affected. I would like to personally apologize to the victims and their families, as well as to our larger community in Muntinlupa,” he added.

The accident will delay by at least two months the completion of the Skyway Extension Project.

“Meanwhile, after initial assessment, this unfortunate incident sets back the completion of the Skyway Extension Project. From the December 2020 deadline, target completion is now February 2021,” Ang said. SOVEREIGNPH
