The damage caused by Typhoon “Ulysses” to agriculture and infrastructure has reached P13 billion in eight regions in Luzon, according to latest reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The NDRRMC said Ulysses caused damages of about P8.69 billion to infrastructure in the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Metro Manila.

Cagayan Valley sustained the biggest damage to infrastructure at P4.95 billion.

Meanwhile, the cost of damage to agriculture was tallied at P4.21 billion from the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol region, CAR and Metro Manila.

Central Luzon, the country’s rice granary, sustained the biggest loss to agriculture at P1.3 billion followed by Cagayan Valley at P1.1 billion. Cagayan Valley is also a major producer of rice and corn.

Even Metro Manila sustained damage to agriculture, or P216 million worth of farm produce and P134 million worth of farm equipment. SOVEREIGNPH
