The House of Representatives has approved on third and final reading a proposed measure requiring those applying for building permits to have a tree planting plan, which will help in the country’s greening efforts.
Called the Green Measures Act or House Bill 7763, it mandates the submission of a tree planting plan as a requirement in the application for building permits. Some 238 lawmakers voted in the affirmative for the proposed measure.
The tree planting requirement will apply to those applying for
building permits of residential, commercial, industrial, and public building development projects. This requirement is on top the usual permits required by local government units for those wanting to construct buildings.
The tree planting plan will require a ratio of 1 tree for every 500 square meters of commercial or industrial project, and 1 tree for every 250 for housing and development projects. SOVEREIGNPH
