Senator Panfilo Lacson wants to cut P63 billion from the from the proposed budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for 2021 and realign the amount for other purposes. The DPWH has a proposed budget of P666 billion for next year.
“My [sub-]committee proposed to delete something like P63 billion from the budget of the DPWH,” Lacson said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel on Wednesday.
Of the P63 billion, P43 billion was allocated for the construction of multipurpose buildings, which Lacson vehemently opposed.
Beside the multi-purpose buildings, Lacson said appropriations for right-of-way and overlapping projects should be deleted, amounting to a total of P63 billion, from the DPWH’s proposed 2021 budget.
Lacson proposed that the P63 billion be reallocated for the government’s national broadband program under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and assistance to victims of the recent typhoons. SOVEREIGNPH
