The Commission on Elections (Comelec) now has a new commissioner in Aimee Ferolino Ampoloquio, an election veteran from Duterte’s home region of Davao. With that development, the Comelec, led by Sheriff Abas, no longer has vacancies needed to be filled up.
Ampoloquio, a lawyer and the election supervisor of Davao del Norte, was nominated by President Rodrigo Duterte as Comelec commissioner on Tuesday.
“Commissioner Aimee is an inspiration to all public servants. Her ascent to Comelec leadership is a testament of her great work and dedication to deliver quality and unparalleled service,” Abas said in a press statement.
Ampoloquio will still have to be confirmed by the Commission on Appointments. She has a term up to February 2, 2027.
Ampoloquio first worked with the Comelec in 1994 as an emergency laborer and became election assistant for 12 years. She rose to be appointed election officer, a position she held for 10 years, and became election supervisor in Davao del Norte for two years. SOVEREIGNPH
