Former health secretary and now Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin and concurrent Health Secretary Francisco Duque 3rd lead the roster of personalities facing criminal complaints before the Department of Justice (DOJ) over the deaths of 101 children who were inoculated with the Dengvaxia vaccine.
It was the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) that filed the criminal complaints before the DOJ. Besides Garin and Duque, 37 others also face criminal complaints over the deaths of the 101 children, particularly representatives from Dengvaxia manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur Inc., vaccine distributor Zuellig Pharma, Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, and Food and Drug Administration.
Garin, Duque and the 37 others face criminal complaints for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and violations of Republic Act (RA) 9745 or the Anti-Torture Law, RA 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, and RA 10918 or the Philippine Pharmacy Act.
Garin is also facing criminal charges before the regular courts for the deaths of at least two children who were also given the Dengvaxia vaccine. SOVEREIGNPH
