The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is warning the public against the spread of fake money as the holiday season is fast approaching.
This, after several vendors in Gerona, Tarlac, became victims of fake P1000 and P500 bills.
Hence, the BSP advised the public to check the markings of the bills to see if it is embossed such as the “Republika ng Pilipinas,” signature of the President and Governor of the BSP.
It added that the water mark, asymmetrical serial number, and the color blue and red of the security fiber must be clear.“Other security features of the money can also be observed such as its concealed value, security thread, and optically variable ink by tilting the bill,” the BSP said in a statement.
