The Philippines’ tally of people who have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has reached 398,624 after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded a new batch of recoveries numbering 10,579 on Sunday.
The DOH also recorded 2,076 new Covid-10 infections, bringing the total cases to 429,864. This translates to total active cases of 31,240.
According to DOH, Quezon City recorded the highest increase in cases with 137, followed by Laguna with 122, Cavite with 103, Batangas with 96, and Angeles City with 79.
Meanwhile, most of the new recoveries recorded were caused by the agency’s weekly Oplan Recovery scheme that tags a patient as recovered after spending a certain amount of time in quarantine and loss of symptoms.
As to the death toll, the DOH recorded another 40 on Sunday, bringing the total to 8,373.
The DOH is hoping that the Covid-19 vaccines being developed will be able to get regulatory local approvals so they can be used to inoculate at least 60 million Filipinos starting next year. SOVEREIGNPH
